Summary

Learn how to resolve common issues when syncing Box+Dice contacts and appointments to an iPhone or iPad.

This article covers:

About Box+Dice syncing issues on iOS

Box+Dice integrates with iOS using CardDAV for contacts and CalDAV for appointments, allowing selected data to synchronise directly to the native Contacts and Calendar apps on iPhone and iPad.

Because synchronisation depends on device settings, login credentials, and how contacts are categorised in Box+Dice, users may occasionally notice delays, missing data, or performance issues. These behaviours are usually linked to fetch schedules, incorrect setup details, or syncing a high volume of contacts.

Understanding how iOS manages background syncing helps identify and resolve most common issues without requiring technical intervention.

Fix contact updates are not showing on my device

If a newly added Box+Dice contact is not appearing on your iPhone or iPad, the device may not have reached its next scheduled fetch time.

To troubleshoot contacts updates:

  • Open Settings
  • Go to: Contacts
  • Select Accounts
  • Tap Fetch new data
  • Ensure Push is turned on
  • Adjust the fetch schedule if required
Tip: Fetching less frequently can improve battery life but may delay when updates appear.

Fix contacts and appointments not appearing

If no contacts or appointments are appearing, the connection may not have been established correctly.

To troubleshoot missing contacts and appointments:

  • Restart the iPhone or iPad
  • Confirm the following details are correct:
    • Server (your Box+Dice URL)
    • Username or login email
    • CardDAV password
  • Check that the Box+Dice contact group or calendar is enabled and visible on the device
Note: If the Box+Dice password was changed in the browser, the device credentials must be updated to match.

Fix device running slowly after syncing

Performance issues can occur when a large number of contacts are being synced to the device.

To reduce syncing load:

  • Run a contact search in Box+Dice for the Mobile category
  • Review the number of contacts included
  • Remove contacts from the Mobile category if they do not need to sync
Important: Syncing a high volume of contacts can impact device performance and sync speed.
