About archiving accounts

Note: Bank accounts, whether Trust or General, cannot be deleted once created.

In Box+Dice, bank accounts, whether Trust or General, cannot be deleted once created. However, if an account is no longer in use, you can rename the account or archive it.

The archive feature allows you to manage trust and general accounts more effectively by hiding inactive or unused accounts from everyday selection lists. This is particularly useful for offices that create dedicated accounts for specific listings, projects, or short-term use cases.

Archiving ensures that all historical data remains intact for reporting and compliance purposes, while reducing clutter in account selection menus.

Archive an account

To archive an account:

  • Go to: Settings > Accounting > Accounts
  • Select the account you want to archive
  • Click Archive # account
  • Click Yes to confirm

When an account is archived:

  • The account is removed from dropdown menus in accounting workflows (for example, when selecting a destination account)
  • The account remains in the system and is not deleted

All associated data and transaction history are preserved. Archiving does not delete accounts; it simply hides them from active selection lists while keeping all records available for reporting and compliance.

Unarchive an account

To unarchive an account:

  • Use the filters to view archived accounts
  • Select the account you want to restore
  • Click Unarchive # account
