Summary
Learn how the Financial Year dropdown works in the Business Planning screen, how to configure the starting month of your financial year, and why some financial years may not appear.
This article covers:
Set the Starting Month of the Financial Year
The starting month of your financial year determines how Business Planning, Staff Budgets, Listings Search and Reports display financial years.
To change the starting month:
- Navigate to Settings > General > Starting Month of Financial Year.
- Select the required month from the Select Month dropdown.
- The change is saved automatically.
Note: This setting applies system-wide and should only be changed if your organisation's financial year begins in a different month.
Financial Year Availability
The Financial Year dropdown in Business Planning only displays a new financial year once that financial year has officially started.
For example:
- If your financial year starts in July, the 2025/2026 financial year will become available from 1 July 2025.
- Future financial years cannot be selected before their start date.
This ensures budgets can only be created and managed for active financial years.
Previous Financial Years Missing
If one or more previous financial years do not appear in the dropdown for an agent, this usually means there is no Commission Introduced data recorded in the CRM for that agent during those financial years.
Business Planning only displays financial years where Commission Introduced information exists for the selected agent.
If Commission Introduced records are added for a missing financial year, that year will become available in the dropdown.
If an agent has Commission Introduced data for:
- 2023/2024
- 2024/2025
- 2025/2026
but no Commission Introduced data for 2022/2023, the dropdown will not display 2022/2023 for that agent.
