About DEFT

DEFT is a third-party payment portal that facilitates trust transactions. Like cheques, DEFT payments carry a risk of dishonour. By receipting DEFT payments using the direct debit method in Box+Dice, you can specify a clearance period to account for this risk.

You can receipt a DEFT payment using the direct debit method when entering the trust receipt, allowing you to specify the clearance days for the payment.


Create a DEFT payment receipt

To receipt a DEFT payment:

  • Go to: Sales > Listing
  • Select the Listing
  • Click  Accounting  >  Statement
  • From the Ledger Details, Click Add > Add Trust Receipt

The ledger name, property address, vendor(s), purchaser(s) and available funds will auto-populate based on the details from the Ledger.

If you have automatically generated receipt numbers, the number will be locked in when you save. If you have editable receipt numbers you are responsible for entering the number - be careful not to leave gaps or to make duplicates.

  • Fill out all required fields marked with a red asterisk

  • In the Payment Method dropdown, select Direct Debit
  • Enter the required clearance days for the payment

  • Click Add Receipt

You’ve now receipted a DEFT payment using direct debit. Always review the trust receipt for accuracy and ensure clearance days are set to manage potential dishonours.
