Summary
Learn how to reverse and re-enter trust transactions when details need to be corrected.
This article covers:
Overview
Once a trust transaction has been entered in Box+Dice and the Proceed button has been clicked, it becomes a permanent record.
To maintain compliance and audit integrity, transactions cannot be edited directly after they’ve been saved.
If you need to correct details, the safest method is to reverse and re-enter the transaction with the correct information.
Reverse and re-enter a transaction
To reverse a trust transaction:
- Go to: Sales > Listings
- Select the relevant listing
- Click Accounting > Trust
- Click the dropdown arrow beside the transaction to view its full details
- Click Reverse
- Enter the Reverse Date (this should always be the date of the original transaction)
- Click Reverse
The reversal will create an equal and opposite entry, effectively cancelling the original transaction.
To re-enter the correct transaction:
- Click Add Trust Receipt or Add Trust Payment
- Enter the transaction again with the correct details
Unable to reverse a transaction
In some cases, you may not be able to reverse a transaction, for example due to system restrictions or lockouts after reconciliation.
If this happens:
- Email CS.BoxDice@mrisoftware.com with the following details:
- Transaction reference or ID
- Ledger name
- Description of the required change
- Provide written authorization
All change requests must be submitted in writing. This ensures accurate communication and creates a record for auditing and compliance purposes.
