Summary
Learn how to apply the deceased status to a Contact, so the system removes communication permissions and clearly displays the Contact’s status.
About deceased contact status
When a Contact passes away, you can mark their record as deceased in Box+Dice. This updates the Contact’s profile, displays a visible label, and removes their communication permissions to prevent any future outreach.
Note: Once a Contact is marked as deceased, the system automatically disables all communication permissions, including marketing and operational emails.
To update a Contact’s status to deceased:
- Go to: Contacts
- Open the Contact record
- Click Edit in the upper‑right corner
- Expand Personal Details by selecting the twistie (arrow) next to it
- Tick the Deceased box
- Enter the date of death (Optional)
- Click Save
Once the deceased status is saved:
- The deceased label appears immediately on the Contact profile
- The system removes all communication permissions
- The Contact is excluded from marketing and bulk communication lists
This ensures respectful handling and prevents accidental outreach.
