Summary
Learn how to remove individual contacts and review system rules that prevent accidental data loss.
This article covers:
About contact deletion
Deleting a contact in Box+Dice permanently removes their details and related activity history. Only one contact can be deleted at a time, and access to this feature depends on your system’s access level configuration.
Users generally need Manager level or above to delete contacts. Your system may differ if custom access controls are in place.
Before contact deletion
Before deleting a contact, it is strongly recommended to:
Use the Find Duplicates Tool
If the issue is duplicate contacts:
- Find Duplicates and merge the profiles instead of deleting one outright
When Not Contacting Someone Anymore
If the person simply does not want to be contacted:
- Disable email/email blast/letter/SMS options
- Remove their phone numbers
- Keep their profile active to retain full communication history and avoid re‑adding them by accident
Remove Consultant Association
If the contact should not appear under a specific consultant:
- Remove all categories and activities linked to that consultant from the Contact record
Delete a Contact
To delete a contact from your database:
- In the Side Bar, click Contacts
- Search for and Select the relevant contact
- Select Delete in the top-right corner
- Review any system messages:
If the contact is linked to Trust Account Ledgers - You cannot delete the record.
If the contact is not linked - A warning will advise that all activities, history, and relationships will be permanently deleted.
- Click Delete to confirm and complete the removal
