About adding owned properties
Contacts may own one or multiple properties. They might live in one of their owned properties or reside elsewhere. To track ownership accurately, you can create an Owner relationship between a Contact and a Property. This can be done from either the Contact record or the Property record.
Add an owned property from the Contact details screen
When you are already viewing the contact record, you can directly add the owned property to the details screen.
To add an owned property from the contact screen:
- Go to: Contacts
- Open the Contact record
- Select the pencil icon next to Properties Owned
- Select your name as the Consultant, or select another Consultant if entering data on their behalf
- Enter the property address, and select the correct match from the suggestions
The property will now be visible under Properties Owned on the Contact Detail screen, and as an activity on the Contact timeline. Clicking the address will take you straight to the Property Detail screen.
Add an owned property from the Property details screen
Use this method when you are working from a property and want to add or update its ownership information.
To add an owned property from the property detail screen:
- Go to: Properties
- Open the Property record
- Click the Owners button in the upper‑right corner
- Select your name as the Consultant or select another Consultant if entering data on their behalf
- Enter the contact's name, then select the contact from the list
If the contact does not appear, you can create a new Contact.
- Click Close
The Owner name will be shown behind the Owners button, and the activity will be recorded in the Contact history.
- Click on the name to take you directly to the Contact detail screen
Properties will appear on the contact record as either Property Owned or Absentee Owner, depending on their residency.
