Summary
Learn how to reverse a trust receipt by creating a reversal transaction.
Reversing a receipt creates a negative transaction in the ledger that offsets the original. This is useful for correcting errors in the original transaction. Box+Dice allows you to reverse receipts unless they’ve already been reconciled or included in an end-of-month rollover.
Note: Trust receipts cannot be deleted in Box+Dice. If a receipt is entered incorrectly, the correct process is to reverse it and then re‑enter it with the correct details.
To reverse a receipt
- Go to: Accounting > Ledgers or Sales > Listing > Accounting > Trust
- Find the receipt you would like to reverse
- Click the side arrow beside the Reference Number for that transaction
- Select Reverse
- Enter the Reversal date (this should be the same date as the original receipt date)
- Click Save
A new transaction will appear in the Ledger with the description Reverse Receipt, showing a negative value equal to the original payment.
If there’s no ‘Reverse’ button available, it usually means the transaction has already been included in a reconciliation or end-of-month rollover.
