This article covers:

How it works

You can update a Contact’s type at any time to ensure their details correctly reflect whether they are an individual person or a company. Changing the Contact type updates linked records such as History Notes, Activities, Tasks, and Appointments.

Contact types determine which fields are available and how the Contact appears across the system.

  • Personal Contacts display a First Name and Surname
  • Business Contacts display a Company Name, and the Surname field becomes a Company field

When you update the Contact type, the system updates all linked records to reflect the new name format.
