Overview
When you send a blast email, some messages may fail due to issues such as invalid addresses, bounce errors, or spam reports. The campaign report helps you identify why delivery failed, so you can update the contact and resend if needed.
Review failed email details
You can view the reason a Blast email failed by hovering over the address in the report.
To identify the failure cause:
- Go to: Contacts
- Select the relevant contact
- Click Email Blast at the top of the screen
- Click the Sent tab
- Scroll to Failed Emails
- Locate the failed list of recipients
- Hover over any email address to see the failure reason
- Click the email address or recipient name to open their contact record
- Update the email address if needed
About dropped emails
Dropped emails occur when the email sender detects that future attempts would damage your sender reputation.
How the drop process works
Box+Dice uses a third‑party email delivery service that manages outbound messaging for Blasts, eAlerts, Auto Alerts, and standard emails. This service protects compliance with the Spam Act 2003 (Australia) and monitors your sender reputation. The Spam Act 2003 regulates all commercial electronic messaging in Australia, including SMS and email marketing.
A recipient address is added to the Drop list if previous delivery attempts failed due to:
- Bounces - the message could not be delivered
- Invalid addresses - the email address does not exist
- Spam reports - the recipient flagged your message as spam
Bounced
- The email system attempted delivery
- The receiving server rejected it
- The error is logged as a bounce
Dropped
- The system did not attempt delivery
- The email had previously bounced, been invalid, or was marked as spam
- The address is blocked by the sending service to protect your sender reputation
Once an address is dropped, the system will not attempt delivery again, reducing the likelihood of harming your sender reputation.
About sender reputation
Sender reputation is a measure of how trustworthy your sending domain appears to mail providers.
Repeated sending to invalid or spam‑reporting recipients can lower this score, resulting in:
- Emails going to spam folders
- Reduced deliverability
- Lower open rates across all campaigns
Maintaining a clean contact list protects your domain’s reputation.
Resolve dropped emails
Take the appropriate next step based on whether the email address is valid.
If the email address is correct:
- Confirm the contact wants to receive email from you
- Contact the Box+Dice Support Team and request removal of the address from the Drop List
- Resend your email
If the email address is incorrect:
- Update the address in the contact record
- Resend the email
- No Drop List removal is required for the incorrect address
