Summary
Learn how to remove a property owner using either the Contacts page or the Properties page.
This article covers:
How it works
Removing an owner is useful when ownership changes, records need correction, or a contact is no longer associated with the property. You can complete this from either the Contacts page or the Properties page, depending on what’s easier for you.
Permission requirements
To remove a property owner, you must have the appropriate Delete privilege enabled. This permission controls whether you can remove ownership links from both the Contacts page and the Properties page.
To configure the permission:
- Go to: Settings > Access
- Click Contacts > Contact Details
- Select Timeline Entry
- Select the appropriate Privileges
- Click the + plus button to add Roles and Groups
Remove a property owner from contacts
When you want to remove a property from a specific contact’s ownership list, you can update it directly from the Contacts page.
To delete a property owner:
- Go to: Contacts
- Select the contact who currently owns the property
- On the right side of the screen, find the Properties Owned panel
- Click the edit icon next to Properties Owned
- Tick the checkbox beside the property you want to remove
- Click Remove Selected
After you remove the owner, the property is immediately unlinked from their contact record. The contact remains active, and the ownership list updates straight away.
Remove a property owner from properties
When you prefer to manage ownership directly from the property record, you can update the details from the Properties page.
To delete a property owner
- Go to: Properties
- Select the property you want to update
- Click the Owners tab
- Tick the checkbox next to the owner you want to remove
- Click Remove Owner
After you remove the owner, they are no longer listed under the property’s ownership. All other property information stays the same and you can assign a new owner at any time.
